The Jags were a perennially poor team for quite some time, but they turned things around last year, mainly through their young and talented defense, and they hope to build on that. We’ll see if last year was an anomaly, or if they’re the real deal. I think they’re going to field a very solid defense, and I think the team will be tough again if Bortles and the offense can manage to fire on at least 6 or 7 cylinders. The team may be built on defense, but their success will hinge on the offense’s ability to at least perform competently. If they don’t, and Bortles and Co. revert back to their pre-2017 performance (firing on 2 cylinders, both of which have poor compression), the team will falter. In addition to all of the new faces, a couple of players from last year’s squad have signed their restricted free agent tenders, and the team made that official today.Both safety Anthony Harris and offensive tackle Rashod Hill inked one-year deals with the Vikings based on the tender offers they received before the start of the new league year.Harris, who is now slotted to be the starter at safety next to Harrison Smith, was tendered at the second-round level, so his one-year deal is worth $3,095,000.
