Season 14's D4 items chase gets a lot easier once you know what this quest is really asking of you. "Across the Threshold" is not one of those missions you can mindlessly grind through. You need a Realmwalker, and if you go in without a plan, you can end up waiting around for ages. The good news is that there is a reliable way to force the fight, and that saves a lot of faffing about.

What most players care about is speed. You want the boss, the portal, and the reward, not a long hunt across Sanctuary. The cleanest route is the Realmwalker world event that shows up southeast of Zarbinzet. It is not always there, so you do have to watch the map for the Whisper marker. When it does appear, that event gives you the spawn you need without leaving it to chance.

How the event actually works

Once the Realmwalker event starts, the pace changes fast. Your job is to keep three Ruptures open for a set amount of time. After each one is stable, a check mark appears on the minimap, and that tells you to move on. If you are solo, it is manageable. If other players show up, even better, because you can split the work and keep all three lanes under control without panicking.

Open the map and look for the Whisper icon near Zarbinzet.
Enter the Realmwalker event as soon as it starts.
Hold all three Ruptures long enough for the objective to register.
Watch for the Realmwalker to spawn in the center of the arena.

Beating the boss without making it messy

When the Realmwalker finally emerges, do not overcomplicate it. You do not need a high World Tier just to finish this quest, and normal mode is perfectly fine if you only want a clean kill. The real thing to watch for is the set of pillars that appear during the fight. Smash them as soon as they show up. If you leave them alone, they can turn into Realmbreakers, and then the whole encounter gets far more annoying than it needs to be.

Finishing the last stretch

After the fight, a portal opens into the Deathtoll Chamber. Go through it and you will land in a second arena that feels a bit like a standard Rupture, only this time the goal is different. You are not chasing the boss anymore. You are clearing enemies to widen the ritual circle, and that part goes quicker if you stay moving instead of standing still. Once that is done, head back to Dannica and wrap things up.
